Grandmother trapped in tiny gap between two walls is rescued in Indonesia
A grandmother was rescued after getting trapped in a tiny gap between house walls in Indonesia.
Rami, 74, tried to squeeze through the narrow space while taking a shortcut back to her home in East Java, on June 1.
She nearly made it to the other side but found herself stuck just three feet away from the exit.
A neighbour tried to help Rami upon finding her sandwiched between the concrete walls.
Footage shows villagers extending their hands out to the grandmother from both sides of the gap. However, they later had to call firefighters, fearing she would be injured if they forced her to move.
Officers arrived at the scene at 1:40 pm local time. They partially demolished one wall to create enough room for Rami. After 15 minutes, she managed to wriggle out of the widened gap.
Rizal Nugroho of the Gresik Fire Department said: 'The rescue process was difficult because she was wedged between a cement wall and a brick wall. We were worried about injuring, so we decided to just break through the wall.
'The victim suffered abrasions on her knees due to rubbing against the wall during the process.'
Medics treated Rami's wounds before allowing her to return to her family, who were urged by the rescue team to better supervise her.
