A clever strayed dog appeared to have learned how to use a pedestrian crossing to safely navigate a busy road.

Footage shows the canine waiting patiently on the side while cars sped along in Manila, the Philippines.

The pooch looked left and right until the lane was clear of motorists before proceeding.

The smart animal also ambled alongside people for extra caution on May 30.

Onlooker Camille Nicor said: ‘My sister and I were crossing the street when I noticed something amazing - the dog in front of us was also waiting for the walk signal.

‘I quickly pulled out my phone to capture the moment because it was just too cute and unusual.'

However, Camille added that while the stray could follow traffic rules, a human resident was seen jaywalking dangerously.

She added: ‘But then, out of nowhere, we also spotted a man crossing the street illegally. It was honestly mind-blowing.'
