Los Angeles, United States - June 02, 2025 06/02/2025 11:45 am GMT-0700 CASTAIC, Calif. – Rescue crews are continuing their search for a paddleboarder who was declared missing after paddleboards capsized 24 hours ago in Castaic Lake’s lower lagoon. The search began after strong winds reportedly overturned paddleboards, sending two people into the water. The incident was reported as two kayakers in distress around 12:30 p.m. Sunday by Castaic Lake lifeguards. According to initial reports, a woman wearing a life jacket was pulled from the water and safely rescued. It was later determined that the pair was on paddleboards. Her companion, a man who was paddleboarding alongside her, remains missing. Dive teams have been deployed to assist in the search efforts. The sheriff's department has identified the missing paddleboarder as 61-year-old Espiridion Philip “Speedy” Camez. The search remains ongoing.
