At around 3 p.m. on June 4th, a section of road on Guangming Avenue in Handan, Hebei Province, suddenly collapsed, causing two cars to fall into the sinkhole one after another.

A white SUV fell to the bottom of the pit, and a gray sedan landed on top of it. Both vehicles had their airbags deployed.

After the incident, local urban management, police, and emergency response personnel quickly arrived at the scene. Three people inside the vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment—all with minor injuries.

Road repair work is currently underway. Preliminary investigation suggests the collapse was caused by water leakage from underground pipelines, which eroded the roadbed.

The local emergency management bureau has formed an investigation team to further determine the exact cause of the incident.
