Horseback Officers Catch Shoplifting Suspect Hiding in Bushes
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — You can run, but you can’t hide — especially from officers on horseback.
Last week, Albuquerque Police Department’s Horse Mounted Unit (HMU) was conducting proactive patrol in the Uptown area when a shoplifting suspect fled on foot. Officers quickly pursued on horseback and found the suspect, Adrian Eric Reynolds, hiding in a nearby bush.
Reynolds was arrested and charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, and evading or obstructing an officer. So far this year, the HMU has made 36 arrests, handled nearly 400 on-site incidents, and issued 492 citations as they continue regular patrols in Uptown and Downtown.
