EDIRNE, TÜRKİYE - JUNE 4, 2025: The legendary Venice Simplon-Orient Express has completed its iconic journey from Paris to Istanbul, reviving the golden age of luxury rail travel with a blend of elegance, history, and timeless adventure. The train, which departed from Paris on Friday, May 30, arrived in Türkiye on Wednesday, June 4, after stops in Budapest and Bucharest. The train's 64 passengers were welcomed by a traditional Turkish folk dance group in Edirne province. "This was the first trip of the year, we're going to have another one late September, so we'll arrive early October in Turkey and it's always a pleasure to be doing this historical and mythic trip of the Venice Simplon Orient Express since Paris all the way to Istanbul," said train operations officer Bruno Janssens. Rand Mason, a U.S. citizen traveling on the train, said they had an amazing journey. Mason said that Türkiye was one of her favorite countries and added that the trip had been the most amazing experience, as it took her through many countries. However, she noted that the most exciting part was arriving in Istanbul, a city she loved deeply for its rich history. John Hajjar, a U.S. citizen of Lebanese descent, also expressed happiness over arriving in Türkiye and said: "It's been a five-day journey and it's been a very beautiful journey. I'm very happy to be here and looking forward to seeing Istanbul." After completing passport and customs procedures in Edirne province, the train resumed its journey, with Istanbul scheduled as its final stop later this afternoon. The Orient Express allows travelers to experience a selection of renowned cities such as Paris, Budapest, Bucharest, and Istanbul. Celebrated as one of the finest luxury train experiences in the world, this journey attracts those who wish to enjoy top-tier comfort while visiting multiple historic and picturesque locations in a single expedition.
