Caribbean Netherlands: Passengers catch last trains ahead of nationwide rail strike in Netherlands
-AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - JUNE 5, 2025: The last trains departed on the night of Thursday, June 5, ahead of a nationwide railway strike prompted by failed negotiations between Dutch railway company NS and railway unions. Railways workers are demanding higher salaries to offset inflation, along with better working conditions. As a result, all domestic train services are expected to be suspended throughout Friday, June 6. According to NS, a reduced train service will operate between Amsterdam Centraal and Schiphol Airport. Additionally, further strikes are planned for June 10 and 12.
