NORFOLK, Va. — The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64) returned to Naval Station Norfolk on June 6 after completing an eight-month deployment as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

While deployed, the carrier strike group operated across the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility, executing combat operations in the Red Sea and joint exercises with NATO allies. The deployment emphasized maritime security, strategic deterrence and allied interoperability in key global regions.

The strike group’s operations included more than 13,000 sorties and 25,000 combined flight hours. Its ships traveled over 240,000 nautical miles, reinforcing U.S. naval presence and commitment to allied partnerships around the world.
