Italian Fire Brigade (Vigili del Fuoco) set up a temporary barrier in the canal near Arconate to assist in the operation. Specialized teams, including speleo-alpine-river rescuers and floodwater rescue units, were deployed to save the stranded animals, which were struggling against the strong current. The cows, belonging to a local farm, reportedly entered the water under unclear circumstances. No injuries to humans or animals have been reported so far. The Villoresi Canal, a key irrigation channel in Lombardy, has seen occasional animal-related incidents, prompting calls for improved safety measures along its banks.
