A Taiwanese tourist was killed after falling onto a railway in Malaysia.

The male holidaymaker in his 60s was struck by an oncoming train at the Pusat Bandar Puchong station in Selangor, on June 3.

Shocking CCTV footage showed the man walking off the station platform and falling onto the tracks. He was hit by the train as he was trying to stand up.

Emergency responders arrived and found the tourist from Kaohsiung unresponsive beneath the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trips were delayed across three train stations along the Sri Petaling Line.

Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke said on June 4 that platform guardrails will be installed at all train stations following the horror incident.

He said: 'I have requested service operator Prasarana Malaysia to implement this. However, installing guard rails at all stations will incur major costs and additional budget is needed.

'We are making this a priority to enhance security at all stations.'
