US, Phoenix: Phoenix Vehicle Theft Suspects Flee From Crash on I-17
Phoenix, United States - June 06, 2025 06/06/2025 04:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded to reports of a collision on southbound I-17 just south of McDowell Road around 4:00 a.m. The collision involved a light colored sedan and a white Ford Ranger. As troopers approached the scene, the driver and passenger of the light colored sedan were observed fleeing the scene of the crash. The two suspects ran east across all lanes of the I-17 and entered an industrial area off of Willetta Street and the I-17 access road. Multiple plain-clothed detectives in unmarked vehicles swarmed the suspects as they approached 22nd Avenue and Willetta Street. Both suspects were quickly taken into custody. We made contact with the detectives at the scene to provide a copy of the footage showing the suspects fleeing from the crash. The detectives stated they were from the Glendale Police Department. The Glendale Sergeant at the scene stated the involved light-colored sedan is a stolen vehicle, and detectives were engaged in an active covert surveillance operation when the crash occurred. The suspects that fled are wanted in connection with multiple vehicle thefts among other crimes, in the city of Glendale. Both suspects are being transported to a Glendale Police station for booking and interrogation.
