KLICKITAT COUNTY, Wash. — A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash with a semi truck on Highway 97, according to a press release from Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer.

On June 1, Deputy Neher attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The driver refused to pull over, initiating a chase. Around the same time, dispatch received a report of a burglary elsewhere in the county. The pursuit continued until the fleeing vehicle veered off the road and collided with a semi traveling in the same direction.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. While checking on the semi driver, Deputy Neher and responding agencies discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Yakima County and contained items reported stolen in the earlier burglary.

Despite a coordinated search effort involving multiple agencies—including the Washington State Patrol, Washington State Parks, Goldendale Police, Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and Klickitat County Department of Emergency Management—the suspect remains at large.
