Uribe, a 39-year-old senator from the Democratic Centre party, remains in critical condition after being shot in the back while addressing supporters in a public park. Videos from the scene showed him bleeding and receiving first aid before being rushed to the hospital. The suspect’s identity has not yet been officially released, and investigators are working to determine the motive behind the attack. Security has been increased at political gatherings amid fears of rising political violence ahead of the 2026 presidential election.
