VARIOUS OF GRADUATION CEREMONY, MEN PLAYING PIPEBAGSCHICAGO, ILLINOIS, US - JUNE 8, 2025: Graduates celebrated their commencement at the University of Chicago in Illinois on Sunday, June 8, during a formal ceremony held on campus. Some students wore keffiyehs and held Palestinian flags to express solidarity and draw attention to humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Security guards removed two young men from the ceremony area after they unfurled a Palestinian flag. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has pursued a devastating offensive in Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 54,800 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Aid agencies have warned about the risk of famine among the enclave's more than 2 million residents. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
