Motorcycle rider battles through flooded road during high tide
A motorcycle rider battled through a road that disappeared under seawater during high tide.
Footage shows Bryan Kevin Dela Cruz navigating his bike along a submerged street that gradually vanished beneath him in Bulacan, the Philippines.
Bryan stayed in the middle of the raised concrete shoulders to avoid falling into the deep ditch on either side.
He was careful not to swerve off the track, as the water was deeper at the sides, during his journey on June 2.
Bryan said: ‘I was going to the market and passed through the middle of rice fields. That route was flooded due to the high tide, but it was the fastest one, so I gave it a try.'
The road became invisible beneath the murky water when he reached the middle, making his crossing even more challenging.
However, the resident continued to follow the markers and reached a higher area, successfully emerging from the flooded road.
The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
