A skydiving plane crashed in Tennessee, leaving at least six people injured.

The aircraft carrying 20 individuals reportedly lost control shortly after takeoff from Tullahoma Regional Airport on Sunday, June 8, around 12:30 pm.

Footage shows the small plane nose-down in an open grassy field as emergency responders assessed the scene.

An incident report from the Aviation Safety Network stated: 'A de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter 100, N166DH, sustained substantial damage when it impacted trees and terrain near the Tullahoma Regional Airport/William Northern Field (THA/KTHA), Tullahoma, Tennessee.

'There were twenty occupants onboard. Four were transported to hospital, and two of them were seriously injured. The others were treated on scene.

'The left wing and tail both separated during the impact sequence. The right wing and engine remained attached to the airframe, the outer right wing section sustained impact damage. The nose section was crushed aft.'

Officials have urged residents to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
