Concerns have been raised over an explosive-laden shipwreck's proximity to shipping lanes off Kent, UK.

WW2 American liberty ship SS Richard Montgomery sank 1.5 miles offshore of Sheerness in 1944.

The wreck is protected by a buoyed exclusion-zone, but this is only around 200 metres from the Medway Approach shipping channel to the south, whilst Thames shipping passes a mile to the north.

Residents and experts are concerned a ship could end up hitting the so-called 'Doomsday wreck'.

Footage shows vehicles carrier Neptune Hellas departing Sheerness before passing the wreck site this afternoon.
