Egypt - May 24, 2025 Suez Canal, Egypt – On May 24, 2025, the UK’s flagship HMS Prince of Wales was filmed transiting the Suez Canal en route to the Red Sea. The video, captured from a GoPro on the ship’s aft tower, shows the massive vessel navigating the narrow waterway as part of Operation Highmast. This mission marks the Royal Navy’s key deployment of 2025. Operation Highmast is an eight-month Carrier Strike Group deployment involving a dozen nations. The task force will travel through the Mediterranean and Middle East to the western Pacific Rim. Large-scale military exercises with British allies and partners are planned throughout the route. The mission aims to reinforce UK commitment to security in both the Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific regions. It also serves to display unity with allies and promote British trade and industry. More than 4,500 UK military personnel are taking part, including nearly 600 from the RAF, 900 soldiers, and 2,500 Royal Navy sailors and Royal Marines.
