US, Bakersfield: Los Angeles Day 4 ICE Protest with LAPD Officer Injured by Flying Object Part 5
Bakersfield, United States - June 10, 2025 06/09/2025 10:00 pm GMT-0700 Los Angeles – A motor officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was struck in the face by a flying object at the intersection of Los Angeles Street and First Street. The officer was subsequently transported by ambulance to a local hospital with an LAPD escort. For the fourth consecutive day, thousands of protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles to oppose the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. In response to the ongoing demonstrations, hundreds of U.S. Marines were deployed to assist National Guard troops protecting federal facilities. Protests began Monday morning at the intersection of Temple and Alameda streets, near the federal Metropolitan Detention Center. The crowd grew steadily throughout the day, with additional demonstrators assembling in front of the federal building on Los Angeles Street, south of Aliso Street, which houses ICE offices. Law enforcement maintained a significant presence in the downtown area, often blocking protesters from marching along certain streets or accessing freeway on-ramps. The Los Angeles Police Department declared a tactical alert, allowing officers to remain on duty beyond their normal shifts to manage the growing protests. Later that evening, police declared the gathering outside the federal building an unlawful assembly and ordered the crowd to disperse. Protesters were seen resisting these orders. U.S. Northern Command confirmed the deployment of approximately 700 Marines from the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, based in Twentynine Palms, to support National Guard troops and ensure adequate coverage for the protection of federal facilities and personnel. Protests erupted in the Los Angeles area over the previous weekend due to a series of immigration enforcement raids that occurred on Friday. Tensions escalated after President Trump ordered the federalization of up to 2,000 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles. The protests have resulted in significant property damage, including vandalized LAPD vehicles and burnt-out Waymo taxis. At least 29 people were arrested during the previous weekend's protests, facing charges that included attempted murder and looting.
