Family sobs outside pub where 14-year-old stabbed to death - two teens arrested
This is the first picture of a 14-year-old boy stabbed to death - as a distraught family was seen sobbing at the scene.
The distressed relatives were seen arriving outside the Fairway Inn, close to where the teen was found dead - as a floral tribute was laid and tributes were paid.
Two teens have now been arrested on suspicion of the boy's murder after police were called to New Moston in Greater Manchester at around 5pm yesterday (Sun).
Flowers have been placed at the scene of the stabbing, accompanied with a photograph of a young boy.
One written tribute said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this horrific time."
"There are good people in this city."
"We pray for your son."
Another said: "Things need to change! Knives down, gloves up!"
Police were called at around 5pm yesterday (Sunday) to reports of a serious assault.
The victim - who can be confirmed as a 14-year-old boy - was found with stab wounds and despite the efforts of the emergency services and staff from the air ambulance, he later died in hospital.
Early investigations established the identities of possible suspects and after attending a nearby address, a 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A short time later, two people – males aged 14 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of murder.
A further 14-year-old female has been arrested overnight on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All four remain in custody for questioning.
Local government minister Jim McMahon MP said: "My thoughts are with the family and friends of the young 14 year old boy who tragically lost his life on Nevin Road, New Moston—just moments from the constituency boundary."
"This horrific incident has deeply shaken the local community and beyond. "
"The loss of such a young life in these circumstances is both heart-breaking and deeply troubling for everyone in the community, and especially parents with teenagers in the area."
Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton said: "This incident will have shocked and saddened the local community, and distressed anyone who witnessed it."
"We are deploying significant resources to this murder investigation, and this led to quickly identifying potential suspects."
"We are still trying to establish the full circumstances around the incident – there will be a large police presence and several scenes in place while we continue to investigate this horrific incident."
"The boy's family are being supported by our officers and we are determined to give them the answers they deserve."
"Despite making several arrests, this is still a live investigation, and we are looking for information, doorbell or dashcam footage, or eye-witness accounts from anyone who was in the area at the time quoting log 2250 of 8/6/25."
"Information can be reported to us by calling 101 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
"You can also use the reporting tools on our website – always call 999 in an emergency."
"We will provide updates to the family and the community as the investigation continues."
