This is the shocking moment an LPG-fuelled car used by an animal shelter to transport dogs suddenly exploded.

CCTV footage shows the red vehicle parked outside the compound of Ark, an animal aid centre in Novorossiysk, Russia.

Moments later, the four-wheeler burst, sending debris flying across the area and thick white smoke billowing into the air on June 3.

The organisation said the vehicle was regularly used to transport dogs to veterinarians and exhibitions, as well as to collect food and donation supplies.

Police said the blast was preliminarily linked to the gas cylinder installed in the car.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
