Exclusive- Amazon driver arrested in Beverly Hills as immigration crackdown sparks unrest
On Saturday, June 7, I recorded an incident on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills involving a Black woman Amazon delivery driver who was double parked while trying to make a delivery. What started as a parking issue quickly escalated when a police officer approached her.
In the video, the driver is visibly upset and raising her voice, but clearly states that she is trying to pick up her phone from the ground and retrieve her license. At no point does she pose a threat, yet the officer accuses her of trying to attack him. When she questions his response and points out that most officers would simply write a ticket and leave it on the windshield, the officer responds by asking her, “Why are you escalating the situation?”
Despite the tension, the officer makes no visible attempt to de-escalate. Within about 45 seconds, more than 15 police cars arrive on the scene. The woman is ultimately arrested.
This incident raises serious concerns about racial bias, the misuse of authority, and the failure of law enforcement to apply de-escalation tactics, especially when dealing with a visibly upset but unarmed Black woman simply trying to do her job.
This level of response for a double-parking situation is excessive and unacceptable. Watch and judge for yourself
