Kilauea, United States - June 11, 2025 A dramatic timelapse video captured the explosive power of episode 24 of the ongoing summit eruption at Kīlauea. The footage shows a towering lava fountain blasting from the north vent, quickly rising beyond the camera's frame. The fountain reached heights of over 300 meters, or 1,000 feet. Most of the lava was deposited to the southwest. It spilled over the crater rim and onto nearby Crater Rim Drive. That area of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park remains closed to the public. The eruption is part of an ongoing volcanic event that continues to reshape the summit landscape.
