US: Hero Officer Rescues Woman From Burning Car After Fiery Crash In Chester

Chester, United States - June 08, 2025 Just after 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, emergency units rushed to a crash involving a vehicle rollover and fire on Kings Highway near Knapps View Park. As responders headed to the scene, they received chilling updates: the driver was trapped inside, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Officer Nicholas Contino of the Town of Chester Police Department was the first to arrive. He handed his fire extinguisher to a passing motorist and worked quickly to find the trapped driver. Breaking the sunroof, he managed to free the woman from the burning car. With the help of two passing motorists and a paramedic from Empress EMS, the woman was pulled to safety. She was identified as a 68-year-old resident of Warwick, New York. The woman sustained burns on roughly one-third of her body. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center’s Burn Unit, where she remains in stable condition. Officer Contino’s swift and selfless actions are credited with saving her life. He has been commended for his bravery and quick response.
