This is the baffling moment a toll booth gate slammed onto a woman's car, with the operators claiming a wild lizard triggered the malfunction.

Dashcam footage shows driver Nid passing through the automatic toll pay lane in Chachoengsao, Thailand, on May 31.

Despite the light flashing green indicating she could pass through, the barricade crashes onto Nid's bonnet as she was driving forward. A security guard then directed her to the side of the tollway for questioning.

Nid claimed staff told her that a gecko had tripped the sensors, and that the company would not pay for the scratches on her car.

She said: 'The first time I called them, the officer told me to file an insurance claim. The second time, the officer told me to lodge a police report to claim for damages.

'The third time, when my video appeared on the news, they finally called me and said they would take responsibility for the damage to my car.

'By that time, we had already paid for the repairs ourselves. We no longer wanted to pursue the case. It is just disappointing that they did not accept responsibility and came up with excuses, like a lizard causing the gate to go down.'
