Residents caught a massive 24ft python in Indonesia.

Rivan was drawing water from a spring well in his yard in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, when he spotted the enormous snake coiled near the edge of the water source on June 7.

The shocked villager quickly ran from the household well and alerted his neighbours, calling for help to capture the snake.

Footage shows the gigantic reptile stretched out on the ground after being successfully restrained, with locals standing nearby.

Neighbour Arif said: 'All of us were shocked, but the large snake has been caught. Residents must remain vigilant when doing activities in the garden.'

No injuries were reported.

Indonesia has a large population of pythons living in its lush forests. The plentiful sources of food have allowed them to grow particularly large.

However, increasing urbanisation and the rise in palm oil farms and rubber plantations has lead to increasing conflict with humans - often with the pythons coming out on top.
