Rafah - June 12, 2025 Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid near a distribution point established under the so-called “humanitarian aid mechanism” designed by the United States and Israel. The incident occurred amid ongoing efforts to ease international pressure over accusations of mass starvation in the Gaza Strip. Witnesses say the victims were unarmed civilians awaiting food parcels, as part of the internationally promoted system meant to facilitate aid delivery. This is not the first time that violence has erupted at these distribution points. Human rights groups have previously criticized the mechanism as being dangerously flawed, citing poor coordination, unsafe access routes, and frequent Israeli military fire.
