India: Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed after taking off more than 200 passengers were on board

Ahmedabad, India - June 12, 2025 Air India passenger plane crashed near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. As soon as the plane crashed, fire and smoke were seen rising. Black smoke was seen rising in the sky from the crash site. The rescue team has reached the spot. It is being told that this accident happened immediately after the plane took off from Ahmedabad Airport. There were 169 Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese and Canadian citizens on board the plane. Air India has confirmed that flight number AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed after taking off today. The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 pm, had 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian citizens, 53 are British citizens, 1 is a Canadian citizen and 7 are Portuguese citizens. The injured are being taken to nearby hospitals. The plane crashed soon after takeoff According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Air India's B787 aircraft VT-ANB, flight number AI-171 crashed soon after taking off from Ahmedabad. There were 242 people on board the plane, including 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew. The plane was commanded by Captain Sumit Sabharwal and was accompanied by First Officer Clive Kunder.
