Terrifying scenes unfolded in Ahmedabad this afternoon after an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed shortly after takeoff, with part of the wreckage left hanging from the side of a residential building.

Flight AI171 had departed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:17 PM en route to London’s Gatwick Airport, where it was scheduled to land at 6 PM local time. However, just moments into the flight, the aircraft rapidly lost altitude and plummeted into a densely populated neighborhood.

Shocking footage captured the moment the plane erupted into a massive fireball, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky. Debris from the mangled fuselage scattered across the Meghani Nagar area, with a large section of the aircraft visibly lodged against the side of a house.

Hundreds of local residents rushed to the crash site as emergency crews fought flames and secured the scene. The area remains cordoned off as rescue operations and an investigation into the cause of the tragic crash continue.
