Woman runs for her life as lorry crashes into restaurant
This is the terrifying moment a woman runs for her life as a lorry barrels toward her and crashes into a restaurant.
The large vehicle, which veered off course following a collision with another lorry, slammed into the Rossatti restaurant along the BR-174 highway in Comodoro, Mato Grosso, Brazil.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 am on Friday, June 6, near kilometre 541 of the highway, approximately 623 km from the state capital, Cuiaba.
Dramatic footage shows the woman near the restaurant entrance sprinting away just moments before the lorry crashes through the wall and disappears into the building.
A second video captures the lorry ploughing through the interior, destroying tables and chairs before smashing through a wall on the opposite side and coming to a stop.
Police said the driver of the lorry that caused the crash tested positive for alcohol on a breathalyser test. In Brazil, the legal limit for drivers is zero.
The driver of the second lorry, the one that struck the restaurant, tested negative for alcohol.
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) and local authorities responded quickly and arrested the intoxicated driver at the scene. He is facing charges of reckless driving, property damage, and endangering public safety.
