Ürümqi, China - May 29, 2025 On April 29 at around 8:50 p.m., a shocking crash at a city intersection sent a motorcyclist flying through the air and smashing into the back of a car. The rider, on an electric motorcycle, ignored a red pedestrian signal and entered the crosswalk. At the same moment, a car in the left-turn lane accelerated to beat a red light. They collided directly on the zebra crossing. The impact launched the rider into the air. He flipped over the car’s roof and crashed through the rear windshield, landing inside the back seat. Despite the violent collision, the motorcyclist survived. He suffered a fractured femur but avoided more serious injuries thanks to wearing a helmet. Both the motorcycle and the car were damaged in the incident. Police determined the car driver bore primary responsibility for running the red light and speeding. The motorcyclist was held partly responsible for not obeying traffic signals and failing to dismount while crossing the pedestrian path. Authorities issued safety reminders: never run red lights, slow down at intersections, and always wear a helmet when riding.
