Miracle British passenger 'survives Air India plane crash'

This is the British passenger said to have survived the Air India plane crash.

Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, was reportedly sitting in seat 11A when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner plunged into buildings moments after taking off.

The passenger appeared to have visible injuries as he walked away from the crash. He was later taken to the hospital.

Vishwash, from Leicester, England, and had reportedly been visiting his family in India before flying back home.

The jet departed at 1:17 pm local time and was seen taking to the skies at 1:38 pm at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

But within seconds, flight AI171 had lost all power and plunged into a residential area.

The aircraft, which was bound for London Gatwick, exploded in a fireball. Just one person from the 244 onboard survived.

Officials are now investigating the cause of the tragedy.
