The USS Gettysburg has returned to Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia following an eight-month deployment at sea.

Officials reported that the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser (CG 64) was deployed with the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group.

Dramatic footage shows the emotional homecoming on June 6, as sailors were greeted with hugs and kisses from their loved ones.

The strike group operated across the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility.

During the deployment, they carried out combat operations in the Red Sea and conducted joint exercises with NATO Allies.

The task force completed more than 13,000 sorties, logged 25,000 flight hours, and sailed over 240,000 nautical miles.
