A trash collector turned entrepreneur has built a small business selling discarded clothes from rubbish dumps.

Noppachai Sai-utha and his friends collect the unwanted clothes from the garbage, before sanitizing and selling them at his second-hand shop in Bangkok.

He said: 'When I look at the trash, around 20 per cent of it is clothes. People these days live a thriftless life. I don't know where the fashion trend stops.

'There are always clothes coming in for us. There are many clothes that we could recycle and add value to.'

Aside from secondhand garments, Noppachai also recycles other items such as bags and shoes to sell.

He said: 'Those are the trash that I can recycle that have comparable quality to brand new items. I'm glad I can get my hands on them.

'However, I'm also concerned. If you ask me when Thailand will stop, I think the garbage will only continue to increase. When it comes to fashion, they will continue the lavish lifestyle.'

Fast fashion refers to the rapid production of inexpensive clothing in response to the latest trends, often leading to high turnover in styles.

However, the quick production and cost-efficiency come at a price, with known fast-fashion brands like China-based retailer SHEIN slammed for alleged poor quality, unsustainability, and unethical labour practices.
