University Students Shouldn’t Come Asking for Jobs – We Too Are Responsible,” Says Lal
In a bold public statement, Lal, a well-known figure, addressed a growing concern in Sri Lanka: the increasing number of university graduates struggling to find employment.

Speaking at a recent public forum, Lal said:

“University students should not come asking for jobs. We too must take responsibility for this situation.”

He emphasized that while the education system produces graduates, there’s a lack of practical skills, guidance, and real-world preparation. Lal also admitted that society, policymakers, and institutions have failed to equip young people with the tools they need to thrive in a fast-changing job market.

His remarks have sparked conversation online, with many agreeing that both the education system and employers must play a role in solving the graduate unemployment crisis in Sri Lanka.
