VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS WAVING PALESTINIAN FLAGS, HOLDING BANNERS, MARCHING AND CHANTING SLOGANSMEXICO CITY, MEXICO - JUNE 15: Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Mexico City on Sunday, June 15, to show solidarity with Palestine and demand a ceasefire in Gaza. The rally, held in the capital, also called on the Mexican government to sever diplomatic ties with Israel amid ongoing Israeli military operations in the besieged Gaza Strip. Protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners condemning the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging immediate international action to halt the violence. Participants chanted slogans in support of Palestinian resistance and criticized the Mexican government’s silence on the genocide. The demonstration was part of a wave of global protests demanding an end to Israel’s offensive and greater accountability from governments around the world. Israel has blocked the entry of humanitarian, food, and medical supplies into Gaza since March 2, leading to widespread famine and the near-collapse of the health care system. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 55,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Alejandro Aguilar Lopez // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
