Poland: Water levels at Poland’s Klimkowka Reservoir fall sharply amid drought

VARIOUS OF DRIED TREES, LAKE SIDEKLIMKOWKA, POLAND - JUNE 15, 2025: Water levels at the Klimkowka Reservoir in southern Poland have dropped to a critical level due to ongoing drought conditions, with only 5 million cubic meters of water remaining out of its 40 million cubic meter capacity. The alarming decline is attributed to low snowfall during winter, which has left many of Poland’s water sources severely depleted. According to data from the European Drought Observatory (EDO) as of mid-May 2025, 41.2% of the European continent is currently under drought threat.
