This is the shocking moment a truck crashes into a low bridge, knocking its container onto a car travelling behind.

CCTV footage shows the massive vehicle striking a footbridge in Manila, the Philippines.

The container fell directly onto a taxi in the adjacent lane, crushing the vehicle's roof on June 14, shortly after midnight.

Authorities from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) immediately cordoned off the area while working to lift the container back onto the truck.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle had previously travelled the same route without issue.

Officials suspect the newly laid asphalt may have slightly raised the road level, causing the container to collide with the overpass.

No casualties were reported.
