This is the moment a man was surprised again and again after 12 family members flew thousands of miles to see him in Thailand - including his 87-year-old mum.

Glen Slaughter, 63, from Watford, London has been living in Phuket, Thailand, for three years after he retired from his job as a taxi driver.

He hasn't seen many of his family members, including mum Pat Slaughter for a year.

Glen's daughter Ellie Slaughter, 30, was heading over for a scheduled trip with three others - but decided to surprise him by bringing eight more people - including Glen's sister, nephew and daughters.

Getting his mum Pat, a retired M&S team member from Watford, London to Thailand was not easy or cheap.

Accompanied by Ellie and her boyfriend, Kyle, 30, she travelled seven hours from Heathrow, London, to Doha, Qatar, with a three-hour stopover before another seven-hour flight to Phuket, Thailand.

And her flight and travel insurance came to a total of £940 alone.

The whole family met up at an Irish Bar in Pa Tong, exchanging hugs.

Ellie, an estate agent from Watford, London, said: "The holiday took a year to plan, and everyone got super excited when the holiday was getting closer."

"When everyone met up, it was just so nice to see each other, and every getting together was very special, and it was so emotional."

The family stayed in Thailand for two weeks, travelling to Maya Bay and Phi Phi Islands, visiting the elephants, eating out, and making memories.

Ellie said: "Keeping the secret was the toughest thing. The main surprise was my nan; it was such a magical moment seeing the reaction."

"The boat trip was definitely a highlight, which, funnily enough, my dad didn't attend because he has been on it so many times, but what was nice were the evenings where we would go out and do our own things and then meet up together on the night."

"We all went to a bar that my dad wanted to show us, and we had the best time. We took so many pictures together; it was just so nice to be in each other's presence."

"We are already planning on another holiday together, and my cousin who lives in Australia said that we should all visit, and my nan said that she will be there."
