Teen reveals how to bypass Netflix multiple household block with simple hack
A tech-savvy teen has found a simple browser-based workaround to bypass Netflix's household restrictions.
Nadia, 19, made the discovery by inspecting Netflix's website code and deleting a specific element on the page.
Once deleted she could continue watching shows from a different location.
The method involves locating a line of code labelled "NFModel…fullscreen" and removing it twice using the browser's inspect tool while on the Netflix page."
According to Nadia, this removes the household restriction pop-up and allows the video to resume playing but only within that local browser session.
Nadia, a student from Strasbourg, France said: "It's not hacking and it's definitely not piracy."
"It's my account, I pay for it but Netflix wouldn't let me use it in different houses. "
"That's not fair when I'm the only one using it."
"I move around a lot for studies, so this was my only option."
Nadia's video quickly went viral with many viewers trying the trick themselves.
She said: "Most people said it worked. "
"For those who couldn't figure it out, I helped them through private messages."
Netflix introduced stricter household verification rules last year to clamp down on password sharing, sparking widespread frustration from users, particularly students, families with multiple homes and frequent travellers.
Nadia says she was inspired to find a workaround after struggling to verify her account in a university apartment without a TV.
She said: "They say you can just update your household but not everyone has a TV or lives in one fixed place. "
"It felt unreasonable."
Nadia has even launched a petition demanding streaming services revisit their policies.
She said: "I don't support piracy."
"This trick only works if you already have a subscription. "
"I just think people deserve to use what they're paying for — no matter where they are."
