Sweden: EV expo in Gothenburg catalyzes tech development, European unity
The International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition is underway in Gothenburg, Sweden, gathering over 10,000 participants from more than 70 countries to showcase and discuss the latest EV technologies. Taking place from Sunday to Wednesday, the symposium brings together academic, government and industry professionals to discuss a wide range of topics such as electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, battery technology, software and AI. The exhibition showcases cutting-edge technologies, from the latest EV models and battery technologies to charging infrastructure and autonomous transport. As the world's leading event for electric mobility, the symposium has become a global platform for manufacturers, innovators and policymakers to exchange ideas and gauge the pulse of the fast-evolving e-mobility sector. The exhibition takes place against a backdrop of rising trade tensions. Patrik Andersson, CEO of Business Region Gothenburg, the economic development agency and investment promotion agency of Gothenburg, said that the current situation will allow Sweden's second-largest city to help enhance regional cooperation in the future. "You see a new regionalization compared to globalization. So I think we will have more collaboration within the Europe, within the EU. And then of course, we need friends from other places. I think we'll see more collaboration, more regionalization within the European borders, for instance," he said. Regardless of the trade tensions, global investment in electric vehicles is surging. It's estimated by the International Energy Agency that EVs are expected to represent over half of all passenger car sales by 2035. SHOTLIST: Gothenburg, Sweden - Recent 1.
