An explosion at a fireworks factory in central China's Hunan Province on Monday morning has left at least nine dead and 26 others injured, according to the on-site rescue headquarters. The explosion occurred at around 08:23 Monday at the factory which belongs to the Shanzhou Fireworks company in Linli County of Changde City. Rescue teams reported the risks posed by secondary explosions and flash fires at the site, which have complicated the emergency response efforts. To mitigate these potential hazards, firefighting crews used remotely controlled water cannons to extinguish the flames during the rescue mission. The rescue team deployed 28 water tankers and two drainage vehicles to the scene. High-powered pumps were used to establish a remote water supply system, creating two water cannon stations to control the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Search and recovery efforts are ongoing while treatment for the injured, support for victims' families, and other follow-up measures are being carried out. The provincial government of Hunan has formed an investigation team to determine the cause of the accident, said the on-site rescue headquarters. The State Council Work Safety Committee has decided to oversee the investigation, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
