Witnesses said the attack hit an area close to the hospital, where civilians had gathered. The wounded, including children, were taken to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital for emergency treatment. Gaza's health system is "at a breaking point," the World Health Organization warned Tuesday, as military operations, mass displacement, and blocked humanitarian access push medical services across the strip toward collapse. Only 17 of Gaza's 36 hospitals are currently partially functional, with just four, including Nasser Medical Complex, serving as referral facilities. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing more than 55,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
