A kind walker revived an injured wild cat he found in the forests outside his neighbourhood in the Philippines.

Ervin Bahoy, who lives in a remote area, said he had already encountered the same civet cat three times while exploring nature before he found it unconscious in Albay province.

The good Samaritan rushed it to his home, where he performed chest compressions as first aid.

Footage shows Ervin applying pressure on the animal's body parts to encourage it to spring back to life.

He said: ‘I already saved him three times before, and he's still trying.'

The civet cat survived, albeit being weak. Ervin added they hoped that the wild cat would become better.

The Asian palm civet is a threatened species in some parts of its range. For example, it is considered Near Threatened in the Philippines and Vulnerable in Singapore. This is due to a number of factors, including habitat loss, hunting, and the illegal wildlife trade.
