This is the dramatic moment missiles fired from Israel were seen streaking above homes in Iran.

Footage shows explosions lighting up the night sky near the Shahrak Gharb Brigade Headquarters in Zanjan on Tuesday, June 17.

Terrified residents can be heard in the video as Iranian air defences intercepted Israeli rockets.

The incident comes amid escalating regional tensions following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets on Friday, June 13.

The Israeli military said that Iran had launched a counterattack involving more than 100 drones.

Among those reportedly killed were Hossein Salami, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a key branch of the nation's military, and several nuclear scientists.
