Typhoon Winds Uproot Massive Tree, Crushing Multiple Cars in Guangdong Parking Lot
On the morning of June 15, in Qingcheng District, Qingyuan City, Guangdong, powerful winds and heavy rain—caused by the outer bands of Typhoon “Buttefly”—led to a dramatic tree collapse in a local parking lot.
Surveillance footage captures the moment a large, decades-old tree suddenly topples, smashing down onto several parked vehicles. One black car had just pulled out moments before the impact, narrowly escaping damage.
Other cars weren’t so lucky — with roofs crushed, windows shattered, and debris scattered across the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Parking lot staff confirmed the tree had shown no visible signs of instability prior to the incident. Insurance assessors have since arrived to evaluate damage and process claims for affected owners.
