This is the inspiring moment a group of backpackers took part in a clay wall-building ritual for soul healing.

Leonard Magtoto and his friends joined a spiritual retreat by crafting with mud on Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte, the Philippines.

Footage shows the holidaymakers stomping on the soil to create a thick, workable paste as they moved in a circle on March 29.

After preparing the mixture, they wrote their wishes on pieces of paper and tossed them into the clay.

In another clip, Leonard can be seen writing the word 'Abundance,' wishing well for his friends and the place.

They then blended the paste again and used it to construct a wall and a bench in the area.

The backpackers concluded the ritual by joining hands in a circle, raising them high, and bowing their heads in prayer.

Leonard said: 'It was so much fun. This was the most magical workshop we had in Siargao and the most grounding experience ever.'
