Catholic devotees were stunned when an apparition of Jesus appeared in the clouds following a mass.

Footage shows worshippers singing praise songs in an open field near the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Penafrancia in Naga City, the Philippines.

A silky white shape emerged above the crowd, forming what looked like a figure with arms stretched wide in the iconic Christian pose.

Flowing strands behind its head resembled long hair, similar to traditional images of Christ.

The gathering was part of the National Youth Day celebration, which brought together hundreds of young participants.

Aya Miranda, who attended the event and recorded the video with supporting metadata proving its authenticity, said: ‘Earlier that morning, the skies were dark and heavy. It looked like it was about to rain any moment.

‘But as the mass progressed, the weather held back. Then came a powerful moment.'

The video was recorded on an Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and is geo-mapped to the same location as the church. The metadata, file name format, file size and frame rate, also appear to prove its authenticity as an apparition of the Lord Jesus.

Aya added that more than 8,000 people came to the event to light candles and pray.

She said: ‘Many who were present couldn't help but believe that it was more than just a coincidence. A reminder that faith unites, and heaven listens.'

Catholicism was introduced to the Philippines by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century, and it quickly became the dominant religion in the country.
