Footage shows activists gathering in Venice to protest Jeff Bezos' wedding - which is due to start on June 23.

The ‘No Space for Bezos' group, demonstrating against tourists treating the city like an "asset," unfurled a banner outside the San Giorgio Maggiore basilica."

While an official wedding venue hasn't been confirmed, early reports say the Amazon founder's do will be held at the Abbazia della Misericordia, a 10th century church in the heart of the city.

Bezos' wedding to journalist Laura Sánchez, 55, is set to be a five-day affair in the city, ending on June 28.

According to BBC News, nearly every luxury hotel in the city has been booked out for an estimated 200 guests, and a number of water taxis have also been pre-booked.

But the group, composed of different protest collectives, including those campaigning for more housing, plan to halt the wedding by jumping into the canals, blocking water taxis.

Members also plan to block Venice's narrow streets, to stop guests from finding the wedding venue.

Guests are expected to start arriving on Monday [June 23], with speculated attendees including Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Eva Longoria.

Other high-profile guests could include Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates and Queen Rania of Jordan, as well as members of the Trump family.

A Welsh tourist, who spotted the protestors on Tuesday [June 17], said Venician locals had "mixed feelings" about the peaceful protest. "

She said: "The campaigners were quite irate."

"I spoke with my friend about it as her family are local - there are definitely mixed feelings."

"[The wedding] is causing a lot of disruption as all the water taxis are booked up."

"The campaigners feel really strongly about their city being used as a ‘Disneyland' - you get the impression they're not fond of tourists which is completely understandable."
