Ground vehicle catches fire at airport in the Congo
This is the shocking moment a ground vehicle caught fire next to a plane in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Initial reports said the tractor suffered a mechanical failure at N'Djili International Airport in Kinshasa on Wednesday, 18 June.
The vehicle had just assisted another aircraft and was due to move an Air Congo Boeing 737, but was replaced before it suddenly caught fire while stationary. The driver reportedly fled the scene.
Commander Vicky Lundula said: 'Everything is under control. Neither Air Congo nor international airlines have suffered the slightest operational impact.'
Firefighters used twin fire extinguishers to tackle the blaze.
The blaze was contained in under three minutes, preventing any risk to nearby aircraft.
